Contact line dynamics of gravity driven spreading of liquids

چکیده
Abstract The spreading dynamics of the gravity-driven liquid motion on an inclined solid surface was studied by considering two fundamental physical models: molecular kinetic theory and hydrodynamic (HDT). is most appropriate model to describe gravity driven mechanism investigated in this study. which one form forced compared with spontaneous for same liquid/solid system from previous study Mohammad Karim et al (2016 Langmuir 32 10153). Unlike spreading, HDT define spreading. This finding reveals importance are suitability such as dynamics.

Multiscale modeling of capillary-driven contact line dynamics
We present a multiscale method to simulate the flow of two immiscible incompressible fluids in contact with solids. The macro model in our method is based on a level set method with sharp interface treatment. The contact line is tracked explicitly and moves according to a slip velocity that depends on the apparent contact angle of the interface with the solid. The relation between apparent cont...
متن کاملContact-line motion of shear-thinning liquids
It is demonstrated that, for the slow advance of a viscous liquid onto a previously dry substrate, the well-known moving contact line paradox is alleviated for liquids exhibiting power-law shear-thinning behavior. In contrast to previous models that allow contact-line motion, it is no longer necessary to abandon the no-slip condition at the substrate in the vicinity of’the contact point. While ...
متن کاملDifferential dynamics of platelet contact and spreading.
Platelet spreading is critical for hemostatic plug formation and thrombosis. However, the detailed dynamics of platelet spreading as a function of receptor-ligand adhesive interactions has not been thoroughly investigated. Using reflection interference contrast microscopy, we found that both adhesive interactions and PAR4 activation affect the dynamics of platelet membrane contact formation dur...
متن کاملContact-line instabilities of driven liquid films
Liquid-film contact lines driven over a surface (substrate) by gravity, centrifugal force, Marangoni force, or wind, exhibit a wealth of instabilities that control many coating and cleaning processes. Starting from a sheet with an approximately straight contact line advancing over the substrate, these instabilities lead to fingering of the sheet to form rivulets, meandering and oscillation of t...
